Dr Peter Hart (Chair) Dr Peter Hart trained as an electrical engineer. He learned about heavy trucks during a nine-year career at Kenworth Trucks Australia, during which time he was responsible variously for electrical, HVAC, brake systems and test & certification. In 1990 Peter won the PACCAR Inventors award for the Kenworth Electronic Monitoring System. Subsequently, during his own 30-year business career he worked as a certification consultant, vehicle engineer, electrical-engineer and forensic investigator. Peter Hart drafted the Performance Based Standards Directional Stability During Braking technical standard and has written several reports about heavy vehicle technical matters for National Transport Commission (NTC) and for AustRoads. He was a frequent contributor to reference groups that were convened by Federal vehicle-standards regulator and by the NHVR. Peter is the certification consultant for Thales and for Rheinmetall relating to military vehicles being supplied to the ADF. During the period 2008 – 2019 Peter was the Chairman of the Australian Road Transport Suppliers Association (ARTSA) and has been Vice President of the Forensic Engineering Society of Australia (FESA), of which he a current Executive Member. In 2018 the Australian Logistics and Materials Handling industry group nominated Peter to receive the ‘Contribution to Industry Award’ that was sponsored by the Victorian Government. Rob Perkins (Deputy Chair) Rob has over 30 years experience running industry groups including ARTSA and the NBTA as well as several decades assisting the VTA. Along with Peter Hart he set up ARTSA-i Data and continues to manage and develop that service. He is a life member of the NBTA and ARTSA and on the honour roll of the HVTT as well as having received the 2020 HVIA Industry Recognition Award. |
Wayne Baker (Deputy Chair) Wayne Baker is a consultant Chartered Mechanical Engineer. Wayne has postgraduate Masters by Research qualifications in the field of aerospace structural health engineering, as well as qualifications in occupational safety, management and philosophy. For more than twenty years, Wayne has contributed to the development, design, validation and certification of the heavy vehicle coupling and connection products manufactured by the Melbourne based Bartlett Equipment. Wayne has led a number of safety and system advocacy efforts in recent years, engaging with regulatory authorities, Standards committees and industry groups. |
Bob Edwards In 1988 Bob started Transport Engineering and Management (TEAM), providing advice to heavy vehicle modifiers, submitting reports to the SA Transport Department seeking modification approvals as an Approved Vehicle Examiner. The business has grown in staff and expanded into Approved Vehicle Examiners (AVE’s) under National Heavy Vehicle Law, Performance Based Standards (PBS) advice and Certification, Vehicle Access and National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation (NHVAS) and Western Australian Heavy Vehicle Accreditation (WAHVAS) system development and auditing. Bob has membership in several professional organisations involved in transport and engineering. |
Simon Humpries Simon Humpries is the Chief Engineer & Product Manager, Medium & Heavy Duty Trucks at Isuzu. Simon Humphries is a professional engineer with over thirty years’ experience in the heavy vehicle industry. Simon’s current role is responsible for engineering oversight of the entire range of Isuzu trucks sold in Australia, as well as the Product Management function for Medium and Heavy Duty trucks in the range. Simon has been a voluntary contributor to ARTSA and ARTSA-i as an Executive member for over 20 years. |

Nemanja Miletic Nemanja Miletic graduated Mechanical Engineering and earned his master’s degree from University of Belgrade, Serbia in 1992. His “Australian” engineering career has started in 2002 when he moved to Australia with his family. Since then, he was actively involved in the transport industry. Nemanja’s journey started with Hendrickson Australia where he spent 4 years as Design engineer, working on local design, development and testing. Then he moved to the “truck” side and joined IVECO Trucks Australia, working as Special Vehicle Application Engineer. Nemanja joined SAF-Holland Australia 17 years ago. During this time, he moved to the Parent company in Germany, for a period of 4 years, working as Product Development Manager, being involved in the implementation of advanced technologies, such as telematics and electrification of trailer axles. In 2019, Nemanja comes back to SAF-Holland Australia, where currently holds the role of Engineering, Product & Technical Manager. Since, March 2025, Nemanja is life member of ARTSA. |
Stephen Vranesic Stephen is a MBA qualified Sales Director and General Manager with extensive experience managing the development and execution of strategy and operational direction while effectively driving end to end P&L management, contributing to M&A and integration activities, and balancing competing demands. Stephen is an ARTSA-i Life member. |
