Institute

The ARTSA Institute has been established in 2019 to respond the challenge of change. The world as we know it is changing rapidly.

The Institute aims to:

  • Influence the debate around innovation for the industry
  • Provide evidence-based data and research to influence policy decisions.
  • Provide guidance and training to industry and its members to improve the safety, productivity and environmental impacts of the industry

Current Institute projects include:

  • Coupling forces on Roadtrains Project - The project involved measurement of the coupling forces on quad-trailer 160 tonne roadtrains during routine daily journeys of hundreds of kilometres while underway in the Northern Territory, with part of the route on secondary roads. The Institute has also received additional funding from the NHVR - Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative and the Australian Government for a stage 2 Couplings Project to further investigate roadtrain coupling forces.
  • An Online training project is being developed - funded by the Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative will provide important information about heavy vehicle modifications to industry.
  • ARTSA Institute Data Analytics provides the industry with detailed reports about market trends of the registration of prime movers, trailers and buses.
